Large Ski collection (straight)

Thread Starter
LOL..my newer ski collection is getting pretty big too!

The time has come to just get rid of my large straight ski collection. Anyone want any of it? There is no particular reason. Their technical/performance superiority days are long gone..in just about every single area now. I remember the very beginnngs of popular shaped skis. ROFL. I bought..owned..tested..re-sold 12 pair and ended up back on straight skis. Just how badly some old straight skis would smoke any shaped skis when they first came out was just not pretty. Downright UGLY! Looks like the tables have turned.
Sure..there are some GREAT!! memories. Sentimental. A very few I MAY keep. I dunno. I have not been on ANY of them for years and years and years now. Ya..I could make a fence. Build a chair(s)..house haha. A few pair I guess is cool. NOT!! this many.
They are worthless. I am not even going to try and advertise them. Anymore. Any of them. Been there. Done that. Waste of my time. I am not even going to try and give any of them away anywhere else. Been there done that too.
They go where they should end up. On Epicski where someone may have some interest..or to the landfill. They are only going to members here. People who are not members who might email me will be ignored. Who knows maybe someone here will want a pair for whatever reasons?? Maybe Rossi Smash will drive here with a trailer or in a truck HEHEHAHA..
IF anyone wants a pair I will give first dibs to the biggest contributors/most interested.. to the site Even if you are remotely interested..I can put your name on a pair..and they can stay here forever. Shipping is expensive. I am in Toronto. Some of you Bears are not that far from me.Figure on $40 or so per pair. I am sure a bunch shipped some other way would be much cheaper per pair. I won't charge for packaging them for you.
NONE of these are going anywhere at all for a while! I am busy skiing and am not going to spend ONE SECOND on these especially while I have several pairs of new skis that I have not had time to mount up and test. I am not even sure which few..if any I may keep..
One time ad here. Once I start with these they will be outta here fast. Not sure when that will be.

A few are new. Shrinkwrap. Some are mint. Many are great. Some are trash and everything in between. Almost all are around 200cm

Post.message,email,.. whatever..I can get you more info if you want.

Dibs on the Vertical Assault!

What kind of shape are they in? What length? Are bindings mounted? What kind?

Thanks Arnold

Nice collection!
The only ones I kept were my Kastle National Team Sl

I took a whole trailer full to the dump after a ski swap. It was hard, but after chucking the first few pairs I managed to do it.

Thanks! bumpfreaq for thinking of hopefully giving them some sort of a new home! Your name is on them. Those are not actually here at my house. My collection is at 2 places. When I go there I will get you the info on them. To be honest..I cannot remember what shape they are in or whether they have bindings or not. Any chance that you might ski them again for me and lay a terrible beating on them? Please. I would like that. Those skis would for sure understand. No one ever beat on Vertical Assaults did they HAHA.
If not I just might have to do it myself.
Thanks again Arnold..

In my experience, the slaloms really are exceeded by today's skis, but the SGs still rock. It seems that old good slalom skis are too limited in what they can carve in a good clean arc and how much effort is required to work the ski (not talking about skidding turns here). Where as my old straight SGs (first generation Kästle National Team SG) are still good at carving large and medium turns pretty much effortlessly, so long as you keep the speed high.

I imagine the GS skis still rock too, but I haven't been on a gs ski in too many years.

.actually..most of my collection I have been gradually seriouslly thinning out over the years. Selling.. or trying to..giving them away..a few at a time. That is just about impossible to do here now. They don't really take them if you put them out for garbage. Dump fees are a minimum of $10 per trip here. They can't be recycled and I have done some renos and taken enough stuff to the dump. I get the old evil eye when they see skis/or mixed stuff. Last thing I need is to get in the bad books there. The dump is the last resort.

Phil..some have bindings some don't. Some have been pulled. I figured the skis would be the hardest by far to deal with..and would deal with them first. For sure..if someone is interested in a particular ski /looking for a particular binding..I can see what is/was on it. I figured it would be a pita to get all the exact details of all these skis, bindings, mounts etc Some of this stuff for sure no one wants.

Thanks for your interest!

The Dynastar Vertical Assaults are as good as gone (to bumpfreaq) He has promised to lay a real filthy pounding on them)

The K2 710 Comp's,KVC Comp's are as good as gone to Rossi Smash. Plus he is OF COURSE! REALLY INTERESTED!!! in anything new/in plastic or excellent.

Looks like the Atomic Team Bionics are gone to Dave..sorry Dave..forgot your name out here. Sorry.

Rossi Smash is VERY interested in shipping 3 at a time. ROFL..YA..that lasted a few hrs HEHAHEHA..He is now talking truck to me to get more.

Rossi Smash has a sickness..I really feel I should feed it. I'ld help a good buddy out who was jonesing..I'ld give 'em some more.

Imho..I feel right now that Rossi Smash should have the pick of this. He would really, really appreciate this stuff!!!!! I dunno..I also feel that if someone else really wants something..also considerring that it is not really just first come first served..but I just put this out today. Others should have a chance too. I think that is pretty fair. I dunno. Let someone else chime in.

I also STILL come across straight skis ALL THE TIME. I don't even bother with them. I get them offered to me too..however I refuse them now.

If someone is looking for something PLEASE email/post/message..whatever..and I will keep my eyes open for you.

THANKS!!!!!! A LOT GUYS..I had NO IDEA I would get this kind of help out here. Really makes me feel good that they are not all going to the dump.

I am tired,my big dog is bugging the HE** out of me BIG TIME for me to take him out for his late nite hike. SORRY but my mailbox is full..I am just too tired to read/respond. I am going skiing and will be back Tuesday

Thanks again guys..

Arnold..

HAHA - no problem. I just by chance had a really trashed pair of these given to me and I cut them up for a little project and was blown away by their construction! I had never seen so many layers of metal in a ski! I had about a 2' chunk of the center section in my hands and could not flex it even a little! Now I want to ski some! (I was a low performance skier on low performance skis back in those days)

if rossismash passes on the kvc comps, I am interested.

TIA

Lol Dave..they just started at the top sheet, just kept adding metal, figured that was enough..and added a dash of p-tex on the bottom.
Now you will be a high performance skier on very high performance skis from those daya haha.
Soon as I check them out I will let you know

I am just going to post more about this stuff here. I don't want to do it twice. You get first dibs..

ALL skis are skiable and have lots of life/stiffness left in them and not trashed unless otherwise noted: Where there are any deep top sheet gouges they are noted. Generally I rate the top sheet condition per them appearing scratched. Graphics/color damage.

In no particular order. Just what I got to today

Olin Ultra SL. Competition. Don't think any Olins were stiff?? You better pass on this one!! 205. Tops fair.Poor towards tails. Drilled for 747. I probablly have some. Bases average. Edges fair.

Elan..CR..COR. Close to new. 185. Ty 560.

Head Radial Se Exclusive. New in shrinkwrap.180

Sal 9X 205 VG to Exc. overall. Drilled for Sal 957 and later

Sal 8X 190 VG to Ex. Drilled for later 3 hole Marker

Atomic ARC (Not the Team Bionics) Tops poor. Bases good. Edges rusty. Ty 540 185

Fischer RC4 SL 205 (red) VGC! overall. Drilled for MRR Race..I may have a pair too.

Ros 4G 207 Tops Good. Tails poor to fair. Bases perfect! Edges VG. Drilled 2X. Looks like later Sal 1 of the mounts (not me haha) is a little off.

Sal 3S 208 Tops good. Except 2 ugly gashes about 1/2 X1. in the top sheet near the sides/tips. If you leave them here until I have some more glass work to do I will do them too! Bases, edges VG. Narrow race stock edges. Drilled for Sal 957 and later.

Kastle. 200. Tops good. Gash 1/2 X 1 near tail top sheet. Bases avg. Edges need grind. Ty RD 390.

1 of the KVC's is really nice! The top sheets have lots of life/color left in them. They have a top sheet gash on the side about 3/8 X 1. Bases and edges are really nice. They are 190. Ty 490 RD. 1st dibs to smash 2nd to Trapps.

No..nothing over 210.
About a month ago a guy was trying to get me to buy some Salomon's with Pro Pulse's that were 213 for $40. He just said they were Salomon 900E and lived real close. When I found out they were Pulses I just passed but I figured he sure wanted me to have these things. They were about a 1998. They had some shape to them..but not much. iirc the tips were around 90. They were definitely some sort of a race ski. I just could not tell if they were a sg or a gs or even if they were actually a straight or shaped ski. They had a lower tip height so I figured sg. I had a pair of Fischer 209 sg's that were next to impossible to tell what they were too other than a lower tip height.
If you or anyone else is interested..lol..they may be free now haha. I can try and dig out his info and contact him.
