hi im trying to take the grips off of my brand new poles so i can an inch or so off.

can't seem to figure out these fancy poles.

there is a little clip in the back on the straps which just pops out, i popped that ou and still no go.

does that little plastic pin need to be punched as well???

true no advise? whatever i searched around and found another thread where the dude had the same grips as me and had this issue, it went unresolved. it was this one. http://forums.epicski.com/showthread.php?t=3217

i decided to soak one at a time under a stream of hot water.

with equal force on both sides i ripped them right off . Sweet!

now to shortening.

it tuned out the clip and plastic pin are just to hold the strap.

the clip poped out by hand , and the pin poped out using a 5/16's punch and a tack hammer .

i may replace the pin with a stainless steel one though , the straps are really nice and where the pin goes through has a metal collar so the strap doesn't fray.

so i could not stop there . i cut the poles to the length i wanted , used rubber cement to put the grips back on , and changed out the baskets .

When I need to cut a pair down I sit on the ground, put the grip between my feet arches, hold on tight, then leg press the grip off the pole.

Should add to that, make sure the pointy end isn't pointed at your head. Feet slip.

Hey, did you re-do the notching for the pole-end plug? I assume this is necessary, but wanted to hear what you did...
