I'm 6'1" 170lb and my legs are probably in their best condition since Basic Training. I'm confident that if I could measure their strength then and now they are stronger than when I was in my 30's. My problem is when I fall I sometimes struggle to get back on my feet. I sometimes need to take off my skis just to get myself back to vertical. I don't seem to have any strength in my legs if my thighs drop below parallel to the floor. Unfortunately when my butt is on the ground it's impossible to get up without bending the knees more than is recommended in any exercise book I've ever read. Young people fall down, put their feet directly under their butt and pop back up. I can no longer do that consistently. What am I missing?
