Recommendations for grocery store on way to Whistler?

So all the other times I've been to Whistler I've stayed in a hotel and never had to worry about cooking, but this time I've got a condo and will probably make breakfast, etc. Can anyone recommend a good grocery store on the way from Vancouver that is easy to get to? I would assume it would be cheaper to shop in Squamish, etc than in the market in Whistler.

Where are you coming from? You can bring dry goods in from the states for personal consumption. Cereal, bread, snakcs, etc. Or just stop off in Squamish and load up.

Take a left in Squamish at the McDonald's / 7-11 and there's a grocery store on the left. Alternately there's a Wal-Mart further along 99 on the left that has good prices for the area.

You really can't miss the place in Squamish. It is pretty easy to find and you only have about 30-45 in the car beyond that depending on weather.

As an aside, I was reasonably impressed with the selection of gourmet items in the market in the Village (I decided at the last moment to cook something special so I bought a few things). But with that said, the prices were much higher than Squamish.

Thanks guys. I'll probably hit the place in Squamish. I don't know how it is out there, but the Wal-Mart grocery store here where I'm from is pretty weak to say the least.

They're usually fine for munchies, but I don't know what they've got for real food. Some have decent frozen food sections.

Get discount lift tickets at the 7-11.

I think that place in Squamish is called Nesters.

Alternatively - we shop also at the safeway in vancouver on Robsons street - on the airport to whistler route.

Depending on where you're staying in W there are some very good grocery stores....I'm a bit of a "foodie" and I like the meat and seafood at Nesters (same company) 2.5KM north of the Village on Highway 99. Excellent seafood and very good quality beef. I've cross-shopped the Nesters in Squish against the Whistler Nesters, while the Squish store has more variety, I prefer the Whistler store as I think they carry more speciality / higher quality items.

There is also a great grocery store in the Creekside development as well as the classic Whistler grocery in the Village. Both of the these stores are very busy after the ski day is over, the Village store in particular. It is a zoo at 5PM.

In addition there is a (very ordinary) IGA in Marketplace and a smaller grocery at Blackcomb near the Chateau.

I suspect buying food in the city will be less money.

Yes, I read the post. And no offense but if the OP lives in Vancouver and doesn't buy his goods at his local grocery store du jour before heading up, then, well I have nothing further to add to this thread.
