There was a story in Beaver Creek a month ago about a guy who had 5 pairs of skis stolen from his car-top, while parked.
Apparently, the thief later had second thoughts about his act, and returned one pair to the vehicle with a note expressing remorse, and instructions where to locate the other missing skis (all recovered).
Sometimes people act on raw impulse, before considering consequences or self-worth.
The thief in this case may conclude his stolen goods aren't so sweet - especially when he realizes they're mismatched, cosmetically unique, and stolen from a sitskier. Of course, now that word is out, returning the goods may be riskier than the initial theft.
