Steamboat into April - how is it?

We were planning an early Feb trip to Steamboat, but travel partners can't go then -- and are considering a trip that would take us there in the first week of April.

They are planned to close April 12.

So...the first week in April...is the mt typically fully open with good snow? Or is it starting to get sketchy?

soft/slushy at bottom, usually fine at top. i've been there three times in last week of March first week of April and have had great snow. Usually a big spring storm follows me there. I ski mostly bumps and trees at Steamboat. It is the lowest of the major mt's in COlorado with a good bit of southern exposure so conditons can be variable depending on where on the mt you are. I've alos been thre in Feb with no snow for three weeks - kinda like the easat coast during that visit. Maybe we can here from some Steamboat locals with more experience, but my trips were all good snow conditions (except for that flukey febraury)
