Boy is this a Bummer or What?!

Here I am stuck in Houston Texas for a week now and have at least 3 more days here. Damn it is 70 degrees, very warm at night, flat and absolute no snow - In mid January no less.

What is a guy going to do. Pay .49 a minute in the Hotel Business Office to connect with some real skiers. Would have brought my laptop if I knew that this was going to be an extended stay.

Hope all you bears are having a good time skiing. Maybe later next week I will be back in N Idaho, where it is "really" cold and white.

Bad news is I have only been skiing twice this year and the good news is this is the last time, after this court case I will be retired.

Sorry, just venting with someone who understands. Thanks Pete

Sorry to hear your work is infringing on skiing. Mine too.

If you stayed in a cheaper hotel, the "business center" and internet would be free!

I feel for you Pete. I get really grumpy whenever I have to leave ski country too. Maybe this will help:

Ya work sucks when you want to ski.

The land where they call it "snow skiing". Aggghhh, what crime did you commit for that punishment?

Got stuck there once for an extra two days due to weather. Happened to be during the annual Houston Gun Show. Decided to check it out. Interesting group, interested in "hunting" all sorts of things. A lot of guns on display that could not be sold within the US. Mostly for hunting humans. At least if you like Lone Star beer and Tex-Mex, you can eat well/bad!! Good luck!
And it's not August. Been there, done that. Ugh!!

Why are you not drunk?

HA! That's hilarious! I was just in Alabama for work, and everyone kept calling it that.

Pete, I'll be thinking of you while I'm stuck here at Snowmass.

Pete's natural habitat.

Quit bitching, I had to live there for 16 years for immigration issues. Go out and enjoy some awesome food, the one thing Houston does right.

Pete, you ain't missin nuthin temps above freezing on the Mtn. and everything is set up with no snow in the forecast. Only reason to go right now is to sit in the sun and not in the unhealthy valley smog.

hey !

I live in Houston all the time and get maybe 10 days on a mountain per year. you didn't have to come to Houston, it was job related; and you this close to retirement ? i dont think you'd be living in van by the river if you backed off this trip.

now, i'm not defending Houston as the best place to be in the US; but for good jobs and cheap living; its great and i cant get the family to move anyways.

you want to vent about being stuck in some hick town in east texas, then i'm with you; but griping about Houston doesnt pass mustard.
you think Houston is bad now, come back in August.

Cheap for a reason though, but it is prime MTB season right now. Glad my AC is a window now though, was not fond of paying 350 a month to keep the house at 76 in the summer.

Ugh

Not really complaining about Houston, just venting missing the 15 days on the snow I usually have in by Jan 5-10. Yes some great restaurants.

too bad you couldn't find some warm weather type outdoor adventure to enjoy, like kayaking, fishing or something-I just enjoyed some of that recently in FL during Holiday visitations-the skiing will be there when you get back..it's all pretty good albeit different..
