Skiing SL gates

Hey everyone-

Yesterday we had a ski race up at the local mountain at 5 pm. Since there was no school the team got there at 9 am and tained all day (of course the day after was finals)! Anyway, during the training runs the gates were close together, and I was skiing the gates really well. The race gates were much wider apart with few flushes. My problem is I was making the turn then coasting or riding the ski, and couldn't get myself to stay "active" in my turn. This slowed my run up a lot. Anyway, I don't know if anyone has any drills or idea for me. (By the way, I got 17th and made the paper- first time ever- yea!)
