This is a very peculiar year, weatherwise, both here and out west.
I consider myself fortunate to have the problems I have here - rain and ice storms on small mountains - rather than the life threatening conditions on big mountains out west.
Imagine finally deciding to live your dream, and moving to a place like Jackson Hole or Tahoe, only to encounter the tragic situations there.
Hopefully this is an aberration, and not the beginning of a new permanent weather pattern.
This is a personal matter to me. For years I worked on recovering from a serious accident; saved my money; saw my kids grow up and move away; started skiing again... all with the idea that I'd someday sell the house and move out west, where I can climb and ski big mountains, close to a town.
I'd even considered getting a small place in New England, to try skiing every day for a few seasons, to see if I'd like it, before moving out west.
Now, all bets are off.
