I'm thinking of developing a ski fiction
series, so if you have suggestions, send them my way! Thanks!

Just finished a book I received as a Christmas gift. My sister gave it to me kind of as a joke or because she thought it would look good on my bookcase.

Angel on Skis by Betty Cavanna. It's about a teenage girl and written for teenage girls to read. Her family relocates to Vermont where she falls in love with skiing. I really enjoyed it, even though I'm an old man and not a young girl.

Not sure if this would be up your alley, but many of America's finest skiers joined the 10th Mountain Division during WWII.
Gotta be some interesting fiction and non-fiction hiding in there.

Check out the link I posted. My own piece is on that very subject. Hopefully, it will be out next fall. I wish there were more non fiction books on that subject. Thanks though, glad to see that there's an interest.

I did not even notice that was a link...thought you were just adding emphasis!
(what a doof I am...)
Interesting stuff...thanks for sharing!
I had the 10th on my mind because my family just bought me some picture books on NH and NE skiing, and I was amazed by how many of the ski pros went to war in that unit.

Find "Deadmen Don't Ski" circa 1959. Nice murder mystery, might provide some inspiration.

Yep! It actually started in Vermont, as did the National Ski Patrol.

That would make it a love story, though she may disagree.

I've got an idea about a wacky group of ski patrol that have to save their home mountain from an evil land developer and his group of ski instructor cronies. If only there was a good title...

I'm thinking more along the lines of nonfiction.

I have a great idea for that exact movie, but with snowboards. I am thinking it should be called something cold, maybe out cold? Funny thing is, they took photos of me at a skate park to promote the movie.

Believe it or not, they had a Lifetime Movie Network Film with a similar theme. Anyone remember that short lived show, The Mountain?

Tough Cookie Diane Mott Davidson, Bantam Books, 2001

Certainly not great fiction, but full of interesting ways for doing away with people one does not like on the slopes!

Here's a start.
Sixteen year old kid from an abusive household in an eastern city runs away from home. While hitchhiking to some long lost relative out in LA ends up broke and homeless in a small mountain town. Local mountain head of maintenance has a beat up shed that he offers to the kid in exchange for some work at the mountain
Just don't make it sickly sweet. This should be realistic.
