ATOMIC issues MASSIVE BINDING RECALL (1.25 million binders, 24 models over 5 years) - Page 3

My Neox 412 were bomber and never pre-released, but those weren't included in the recall.  Personally if i had a binding that was on a recall i would never ski on it again, skiing is dangerous enough....

I still want to see pics of the hostage plate that was on those Sins.   I have several Atomic Volants with  the two-part mount-what-you-want plate.

I find it a little bit surprising that Sins came with a variocharger or racecharger plate.      I seem to remember Atomic putting a mount-what-you-want plate on those?

Pics?

They did.

I took the plate off my big daddies.  Look Px fit into the channel.  Toe shim need to be trimmed just a touche.

This just happened to one of my 614s.  Atomic refuses to replace/repair/etc.

6.14's were never in the recall.

Say you have skis with Race 412's...

Will Atomic still supply new heel pieces and cover the labor  to replace if you take the skis into an Atomic dealer?

What would be an inexpensive yet solid alternative binding to mount on the plate?

Would it be practical to take the entire Atomic binding and plate off and replace with a Railflex II plate?

For anyone who might be interested...

I recently inherited a pair of Atomic Beta Ride 9.22 skis in overall decent condition. I was going to give em a go in these sketchy, late spring conditions, but they have Xentrix 310 bindings, and when I checked the underside of the heel lever they are marked 0|0, so they are subject to the recall.

Called Atomic Customer Service this morning, and they said the recall was still being honored - just take the skis into an Atomic dealer, and they will remove the heel pieces, get replacements from Atomic, and install them, all at no charge. Found a local Atomic dealer online, called, and they said bring em on in.

Just found out about the recall.  Took in my Device 412's to an authorized dealer, and they got a new heel piece free from Atomic.  They look great--only problem is they won't give me the skis back until I PAY them $30 for a binding test!  No mention of any cost when I dropped them off.  Isn't that what a recall is all about--the manufacturer picks up the tab for replacing the defective part???

When I had mine done I took the guy who actually did the work a six pack of his favorite beer, but otherwise the replacement and testing was free. I actually skied the Beta Rides yesterday for the first time, and after mostly being on shorter/turnier skis they were sure different, but I had no problems with the bindings.

If I were you I'd push back, and if the shop doesn't give call Atomic and complain, see if they can help you.

Did you ask for a binding test? I wouldn't pay unless I asked for it.
