Anyone been to Snowbasin recently?

I really like skiing Snowbasin but I usually wait to go until they have all of their lifts running. SkiUtah says they have 9/12 lifts running. The Snowbasin website says 100% of terrain open. Can anyone tell me what the deal is up there? Is the Tram open yet? No Name Peak?

I'm going tomorrow so I will let you know after I'm done if there's no other information by then. When looking at the map, I can only see 9 lifts and the only one not listed as open on their website is Wildcat. We shall see.

Just got home. After tons of explosive work this morning, the whole mountain was open today with a reported 8" over night including No Name. In fact, with the exception of MB Cirque the whole place has been open since the 27th. A series of storms was prolonging Strawberry till then. Even Wildcat was running today, if anyone really cares. I would say that coverage is good for this time of year.

The phrase of the day was "Frickin Cold".

Anyone have a current update? I am heading up to Utah this weekend and I can't decide on LCC/BCC or Snowbasin. I REALLY like Snowbasin and already have 6 days in this season @ LCC/BCC but the threat of warmer weather on Fri & Sat has me scared to go to the place with lower elevation. Any first hand reports on conditions would be greatly appreciated.

It's been great, the temps began dropping on Saturday & it's been epic powder skiing for the last 3 days & snowing now.

Click for a couple of pics:

TR: Definately NOT rain, & it's Australia Day!

Thanks for the update! Your reports had made my decision for me.

I have a few questions if you don't mind. How do you suggest skiing the Mt? Start at Strawberry and move over to JP later in the day or vice versa? It is hard from me to say no to the JP quad because there is never a line so I usually spend a lot of my day there.

Also, I would like to play a little hide and seek with my avi beacon on this trip. I was reading on the Snowbasin website that they let people do that in their avi training center. Is this something I need to sign up for in advance or can I just show up?

Thanks!!

It really depends on the weather that day. I spend most of my time on JP for some of the same reasons you do, but I would have to say that Strawberry was awesome this afternoon even with poor visibility. PM me the day before & I'd be happy to give you an update.

The beacon park is just to the west of the Mountain Ops & Patrol building (just to the right in the picture above) in the base area. It is open all the time & is self serve. If you have any questions, just ask in the Patrol office & I'm sure they would be happy to help. We have a top notch Snow Safety team & I have done on mountain beacon practice with their input in the past.
