You have to have the inaugural fall leaning inside too far on the first run then the season can officially begin.

Then Mermer Blaksly gave me the best warm up of all times. Make Parallel turns using one leg at a time. What I mean is that you will actually have both feet on the snow but one foot is faking skiing and the other is actually doing the skiing. 20 turns on each foot try to fake is so well that no one can see which one you are really using. This is the greatest way to wake up both sides individually. I suppose I should suggest that you begin this on something fairly easy to start. This is great any time of year but it is one way I start most seasons.
