This is one I haven't heard too much. Franchising him would cost something like $14 million...do you think they could get that type of value for him on the trading block? That would essentially mean that to other teams he is as valuable as the average of the top 5 QBs in the league.
It certainly is interesting that he has stepped into the starting role and succeeded, somewhat like Brady did when Bledsoe got hurt. At the same time, I can see some validity to Whiteroom's prediction...I mean, there is such a thing as a system that sets up any reasonably competent QB to succeed. And clearly New England has a pretty good system going.
