Retro Ski Equipment

Just pulled my K2 710-Comp w/Salomon 727Equip bindings out of the closet. Together w/Scott SuperHot boots I'm planning to hit the slope after 25 years. Just wondering how many people I'll get starring at me?

When was the last time you've seen that combo, old man and old equipment?

Pack some shoes. Your boots will crack in half on the first run.

Hi Retro,
Try this one on for size:
Spalding Squadra Corse GS
Marker MRR (latch ins)
Lange ZR
Kerma World Cup with the Corrective Angle

On the last league race of the year, I wear some Spyder race clothes from the late 80s. Boy, I really get some looks from that.

Nice memory. I had a pair of Squadra Corse SL with MRR matched up with either San Marco AXR or Lange Tii.

I rode up the lift with 2 guys today, one had super old, perfectly straight skis. His buddy started making fun of his skis, then said I bet if you took one of that guy's (me) skis and ripped it in half with a table saw you'd end up with two skis wider than yours...

Last week..a guy bought boots at a Local shop. Do we need to mention names? AGAIN. In Toronto. NO. Said they would adjust his new boots to his old skis IF he bought the boots there. He TOLD them what they were. They still said yes. He then asked again and they still said yes. Old K2's of that vintage..with 727E. They said they would. He went back to pick his gear up. All set to go. $60. "Binding service" They actually told him they "lubed" the bindings but could not adjust- them for his new boots. (he had already told them his 25 y/o boots just broke)They then REALLY!!! tried to sell him on new skis. No comments about lubing, mounting haha. Nice work. He would not pay the $60,took his old skis back, paid for his boots, said he would buy new skis somewhere else, left

I laughed and said if he bought new stuff from me I TOO would throw in a free adjustment of his new boots TOO on his old stuff. I laughed again and said don't buy anything..just bring the stuff here I'll do it for you.
Shouldda seen his eyes light up as he talked about his days of skiing in the Alps with them!!
Made the sale.

Coming soon to my work bench..lol..
