Jay peak weather (right now ) anyone have info ??

So i'm confused, I've never been to Jay and I'm heading up in 3 days.
Jay seems to be off the map for most weather websites, so north troy, vt is what I'm using as a reference.

the websites are claiming that Jay is only getting a dusting to an Inch today, but the Jaypeak resort is claim 4-8" already with blizzard conditions.

anyone live locally that can give me an accurate statement ?

how is the mountain shaping up ? is the jay website being truthful or are they pulling an Intrawest move and stating 3X what they actually have ?

some info would be appreciated.

Praying the Jay website is honest..

come on snow gods...

Don't underestimate the snow magnet at Jay. My first time there was a 3 day trip and weather reports grossly underestimated snowfall. That said, making the trip up there can be a risk. If you see any significant winds forecasted, I'd go somewhere else.

Here's one report:

I have a 3 bed room condo for the week, I'm not going anywhere else, traveling on saturday.

even if I have to drive at 2 mph i'll get there.

I went to hunter in the last snow storm took me 5 hours to get home, well worth it.

We had about 6" at Stowe today and a dusting to an inch in town, so what Jay is reporting is not at all unreasonable. Did they happen tomention the WIND?

here's some weather beta from SkiLogs...

... Jay was destroyed by rain friday night (12/26) saturday (12/27) and saturday night (12/27). As of Sunday 12/28, the mountain looks like it did in late April of last year. Bare spots, down to 30 trails, only spinning 2 chairs (no wind or other explanation). We'll need heavy snow to restore the base. Forecast looks like a hard freeze and limited snow... place is not going to be pleasant, nor am I.

I saw a report from a guy who skied there yesterday. It sounds like it's mending rapidly. Another 6" and you'll be fine.

I just got home from Jay. They definitely got a solid amount of snow yesterday, although it's tough to say how much. It has really blown around, so some exposed areas remain completely bare but the woods have accumulated nicely. The base is thin and icy in spots. However, coverage was quite good considering how bare it was just days ago. I was rocking the powder skis.

I lived in North Troy for 18 months. It definitely snows more on the mountain than down in the flatlands. Watch the N. Troy weather and the Jay Peak website. Wind is the only negative; any other positive news you get from either site is good news and you should be encouraged. It can get frickin' cold, but that's the exception, not the norm.
