Legend Pro - 07/08-08/09 diffferences

There are a couple reviews on TGR stating that this ski has changed quite a bit this year. Has anyone ski'd this yet and can comment?

I tried a search, but the word "pro" doesn't get recognized and makes sifting through the results a pain. Thanks.

Try "legend pro" in quotes.

if searching on tgr (or anyway) do
legend pro site:www.tetongravity.com/forums

Anyway. This year they got wider and softer and aren't the same charging ski they were before. Dumbed down for the masses.

I've got the LP in the 07/08 skis and they absolutely rip... I initially bought them just as a powder ski, but have found myself using them every day. I'm also curious about what changes have been made for 08/09.

i skied the 07/08 lp's in 186 and the 08/09 lp's in 184 on the same trip. all i can say is that the 07/08 ski is a cult-status, hard charging tank of a ski. it is not for the timid. the 08/09 is significantly neutered in comparrison. it is, by no means, a wimpy ski. but the cult-status is gone. all-in-all, it will be a better "everyman's ski," and i wouldn't be surprised if it becomes more popular and better selling now that it's more accessible to more people. but the charm is gone...

The 07/08 LP is definately a skier's ski. It requires the skier to make it work, but when you do, it RIPS. I can see why skiers that aren't strong or don't have the proper technique would not like this ski. I'm seriously thinking of picking up a second set of 07/08's to put under my bed for when my current ones become skied out....

i already did that with my xxl's. literally. they are UNDER my BED. i also skied these for the first time during the same trip as the two different versions of the lp. i found the xxl's to be aaalmost as charging, but, obviously, with better float and, surprisingly, with more maneuverability.

sign of the times

Is it the case that fewer ski companies will be producing a true "skier's ski"? probably. there is no profit in it. most skiers that can handle a ski like that are pros and comp skiers. They want a bro deal (will nver pay retail). In fact, very few humans (huge power and strong technique required) can ski the '08 186 or 19_. Even so, the ski should be available as it completes the line of models by including the extremes at both ends, and validates the ski brand as the kine. As to 08/09 models, I ski the 08 LP in a 176 (140lb) on big days. The flex is built differently for each length produced, you can even see the different thickness of the sidewall under the boot. (contrast Mantra) This tuned flex, progressive thickness, is the ideal way to produce a ski model. You don't want to over-size this ski (08 and earlier anyway), dynastar already made it bad-ass enough. Handling both models, side by side, it is evident that the '09 is a softer flex, more suitable to the typical expert.
