Wow, seems like a lot of you have had a pretty mellow time with rod removal. It sure doesn't feel that way for me! I broke my tibia 16 years ago in highschool playing soccer and had it removed last week (for various reasons). The surgeon was surprised at how difficult it was to remove the rod (the surgery took double the expected time). He originally told me I'd be able to put weight on it after a few days. It's been a week and I cannot put any weight on it and the knee area is very swollen. It's been an extremely painful ordeal. I only booked 2 weeks off work, but can't imagine that I'll be able to go back in a week (I'm on my feet all day at work). Has anyone else had a similar experience with a rod removal? If so, how long was your recovery time?
