40" in last 5 days and still snowing! What a great start to the season! I will be there next month for a week. Anyone else heading that way?

They are delaying the opening of the upper mountain terrain for avalanche control, I'm hoping that they open most of the mountain by the weekend. It would be a real treat if they open the ridge in the next few days

I'm there every weekend and some weekdays too. Will be doing a ski week the first or second week of January. PM me to share some turns.

Should I create a GTG thread for Taos?

I'll be the other places nearby are green with envy. I'm not see that they've gotten nearly as much snow.

I'll be over there a few days between late Jan and March I'm sure.

Unfortunately I won't be there until the middle of February.

My pass is blacked out Dec 26-31, so I'm sure I'll be skiing Taos Jan 1-4.

Tough to say, but I think they'll slowly open more terrain on the top starting tomorrow, when the big dumpage stops. This is how it looks like right now at the top:

I'll be there over the weekend, and may hook-up with a couple of other bears. If you wanna share some turns send a PM.

EDIT: Some updates from the TSV website.

Lifts 1, 2, 3, 8 the Rueggli and all the carpets are running. Beginner and intermediate terrain on the front side is currently open. The backside around the world will be open soon. Expert terrain will open on a limited basis on the lower front side.
I think that means that Al's run, snakedance, inferno, etc. will see some limited opening today, with more to come in the next few days

Sounds good. We are getting some great snow here right now in Santa Fe, so I might just go there if they open the top, or maybe Sipapu. Just depends on conditions.

12" more fresh and still snowing today Forecast to snow for the next few days

Couldn't get out of the driveway this morning, got stuck like 3 times. Amazing what a foot of snow, a 100-yard driveway, and a low-profile car can do to you.

I hope I can make it to the mountain tomorrow, I need to ski all the frustration away.

I'm there first week of jan.
Cant wait to send my friends that snowboard into some trees.

Speaking of boarders - given there are some long flat runs and cat tracks - where are they less likely to be on the mountain?

Thanks

Dave

Great Snows Continue in Taos

Clear today but almost 20" last 3 days in Taos. As a reference, we've plowed snow off our lot more already this year than the last 3 or 4 years combined! And that's in downtown Taos. Simply stunning. Folks in the valley are trying to figure out what to do with the massive amounts of driveway snow.

Ski you in Taos!
