Economical lodging at Snowbird UT? Where to stay?

I think we've made the decision to ski Snowbird UT. Flying in 1/21 early am, skiing that day, then flying out 1/29 after we ski that day. We may only ski 3 days there and drive to another mountain, but we're not sure yet.

Any recommendations on where to stay at Snowbird? Here's what we're looking for...

-small fridge
-tv
-microwave

We stayed in Frisco in February at the Snowshoe Motel for $70/night and that was all that we needed. Trying to stay as cheap as possible for the lodging as we'll only sleep there.

Something to also keep in mind...

-my brothers 25 and Im 26
-if there's a bar/restaurant within walking distance, big plus
-we're social, but don't mind a short drive
-cabin's are fine
-we will rent a car for entire trip

Never been out to Utah, so the entire area will be new to me. I don't think we'd mind staying somewhere in SLC and driving to Snowbird.

We don't have to stay at the Snowbird resorts as they're going to be in the $300/night range.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to help out and answer some of these questions.

I just got back from Snowbird. Similar to your trip, it was me (26) and my brother (22). We were looking for economical yet reasonable lodging.

I used Priceline to "name my own price." It just so happened we got the Extended Stay America for $40 per night (plus taxes and crap). It meets most of your requirements (big fridge, TV, microwave, stove, restaurants within walkin/short drive) and is close to Snowbird/Alta (20 min drive).

Hope this helps!

If you're going to have a car anyway, I'd stay down in the valley. There really is no such thing as economical lodging at Altabird. The previous suggestion of Extended Stay in Sandy is probably the best/cheapest option, although the walk to the bar is out of the question.

people always suggest the extended stay in sandy but i always go with the homestead studio suites in sugarhouse. much better location from a restaurant/proximity to downtown slc perspective and still just a quick drive to the canyons since it is right on the interstate. check them out.

Thanks! Its first hand suggestoins like this that really make the difference. I will definitely check those places out and go from there.

So the drive from SLC to Snowbird/Alta is easy? I don't mind the 30 minute drive or so, but would it be better in terms of socializing with the locals to stay as close to Snowbird/Alta as possible? Is there anything there that's anywhere near $70/night? Most of the resorts/inn's n the small village are way up there.

Thanks again!

Have stayed at the Crystal Inn in Midvale. It is great. Full breakfast and dinner included everyday, so there is no need to buy meals or cook. I would highly recommend it.
