Two Skis One Binding

Thread Starter
I have two sets of skis. One set has bindings mounted on them. I gave a second set of skis that have yet to have bindings mounted. They are fat skis which will be used a couple times a year. Would it be ok to swap my bindings over to the new skis and vice versa whenever need be? There's no plates on either. Are bindings screwed directly into the binding or are there some type of metal inserts put in first? Know what I mean? Sorry if I'm asking a dumb question.

Might be OK to do it once or twice, but I wouldn't recommend making a habit out of it. One possible solution would be to put helicoils in the skis, but they also would have a limited life.

The best thing would be to go to some sort of system binding, like RailFlex, which does make it easy to share bindings among skis.

A side issue is brake width. You might need two sets of brakes if the ski widths are radically different.

You can get good new bindings for $70-100 (US), so I would just bite the bullet and do that. Go RailFlex if you want, and you will be covered!
