Whistler accomodations

Thread Starter
I've booked a trip to Whistler in mid-January. Making sacrifices to the snow gods but to no avail yet. I'm hoping that with a month to go, conditions will start to fill in.
Having never been to Whistler I was hoping for some recommendations regarding accomodations. At this stage there's just my son and I although there's the possibility that a buddy of mine will be joining us. Looking for something cheap, clean, and easy walking distance to lifts and the village. Assuming my friend joins us we'll need at least a one bedroom(two would be perfect with a pull-out in the living room but I'm assuming that eliminates the cheap part of the equation).
If said friend is unable to join us my son and I would probably look for your standard hotel room with twin beds. Any ideas/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Might give a search on some condos. I used Alluradirect.com last year: http://www.alluradirect.com/search/Q...m?resortcode=1 Plug in your dates of travel and see what's available and hopefully find something in your price range. However, for cheap in Whistler, it's a tough search.

If you really wanted cheap, you may look into this place. http://www.ubcwhistlerlodge.com/

Good luck and have fun, the village is the best.

Just do a search on this board under whistler accomodations and you will find plenty of suggestions. We looked at the Aspens in the Upper Village on Blackcomb. Ski in ski out with an outdoor pool/hotub which was nice. Ended up using points to stay free at Westin!!!

If you include the cost of (vastly overpriced) restaurant food, I bet a condo would be much more economical than a hotel room even if it's just you and your son. Look on alluradirect.com as suggested--you can put in your budget, location, etc to see what's available. I don't think you'll find anything "cheap" within "easy" walking distance to the lifts...if budget is a primary consideration remember Whistler has a good shuttle system, and staying even a 10 minute walk/2 minute shuttle ride from the lifts will save you money.

If it ends up being just you guys, and you'd like a recommendation on a clean, comfortable studio condo that I think is a good value and has a responsive, honest owner (in Granite Court, Whistler Village North), pm me.
