Is this correct? (Nordica XBS system)

Hey Guys!

This is my first post. So Hello! My name is John. I am a 23 year old intermediate skier.

I got my first pair of skis, I usually ski a few times a year and want to get better so I got a nice pair of boots and some skis I found for a good price.

So I received my 2008 Nordica Gransport 12s this afternoon. I am going to take them to a local shop to get the bindings set up correctly but I am a little confused by the bindings.

There is a medal guide type thing in the middle of the rail...here is a picture.

I would imagine the binding would lock on to or use this medal guide in the middle to keep the binding stationary. But it appears there is nothing on the bottom of the binding to make use of this medal guide.... heres a pic..

There is however a screw that goes through the top of the binding, but this screw to stabilize the binding on the rail would have to go through the medal rail on the XBS system.... Is that right? I thought the XBS's systems main plus was ease of adjust-ability?

Same holds true for the rear binding... Nothing to make contact with this medal rail, but on the back there is two screws... heres a pic of the bottom of the rear.

But the bindings slide easily on the XBS system so that gives me hope that they are indeed the correct bindings for the ski... Also the colors of the bindings are correct for the ski.... But the way they attach just does not make sense. Perhaps these are to low a level on the Nordica chart to allow for the ease of adjustability?

I am simply asking so I don't end up driving 30-45 minutes to my local "ski shop" (I live in georgia....) and be turned away because the bindings I was sent with my skis are incorrect.

Thanks for the help.

heres another pic.

The bindings are: N03 10 by Marker.

Thanks for the peace of mind

Anyone?

I think that you have the '07 bindings. The correct bindings have a switch lever on the toe and the heel that is used to lock the binding pieces onto the rail.

thanks for the response... its weird, because all the pictures I look at of the Gransport 12 and 14 they both have the same bindings as I show but I wonder if their "rail system" is different than mine to accomodate the screws (1 in front 2 in back)...

I guess I will take it to my shop and see if they can get me on my way, or else I will be calling the place I got the skis to have them hopefully send the correct bindings.

Thanks

Where did you buy the skis?

Normally, the screws only hold the binding to the "sled". Some other mechanism holds the sled to the rail.

got them from o2gearshop.com they were on sale and I used a coupon as well so in total it was only 179 bucks which I thought was a good deal. But this may end up being more difficult then it is worth

Well, that's a good shop and I trust them.

Yeah, The box the bindings were in said "Nordica Gransport 12" but I really find it hard to believe that there is no interaction between the binding and the metal rail.

Either way I'm gonna go by my shop which is a nordica dealer so they should be able to atleast tell me if I have an issue or not.

Might as well get the skis waxed while I am there as well

The newer bindings have a lever that allows them to easily move with out tools. I have an older pair of SUV 12 that uses a single screw to do the same thing. I live in a ski town and have friends in the shops that do/explain these things for me. It might be the screw I can see on the toe piece in your picture.

After having visited my shop Sat, I think you are missing one piece in that binding...i.e. that additional thing with the "lever" to adjust the bindings w/o the need to unscrew 'em (like in my '06 HR TP)
I see you've gone to talk to a shop, I'm curious, what did they say?
