How big are you, and how fast do you ski? The iM82 and 82 Xti are more ski than the 8.1. The Xti is a great ski (I had one for a month last spring) but best for bigger skiers. I got rid of mine as I only weigh 150lbs, and had ordered an 82ti when I broke my leg. The 82ti that I demoed was probably the highest-performing midfat I tried last spring: it was a stellar ski. The iM82 is a touch more forgiving. The 8.1 is probably the most forgiving of the 3, but still a performance ski. Better for lighter skiers, or those who aren't charging hard all day and want a ski that will back off a bit. You can ski slowly, to quite fast on it, and the only place I really found a speed limit was in crud with the throttle wide open. The 82Xti won't really HURT you if you make a mistake, but will give you some feedback. It is also the most stable of the 3, IMO, in any condition. The iM82 is super reliable: fairly forgiving, stable, damp, not quite as exciting, but very high performance.
All are good skis!
