Hunter, Monday 12/8

Classic refrozen conditions.
Boilerplate ice under an inch or two of manmade snow. Very fast surface; but hard on the snowboarders, who were falling a lot.
It's supposed to thaw out, with rain, on Wednesday, and refreeze thursday, making conditions more extreme over the weekend.
The typical Hunter freeze / thaw / freeze cycle has begun.

I think I saw you from the summit at Windham. I was there Monday and we had similar conditions but really no boilerplate to speak of. Mostly well groomed manmade with a nice corduroy surface over typical but very carveable FRGR.

Not much open terrain but Wolverine was in great shape top to bottom. I was taking a 2 day race clinic so conditions were perfect for that.

Tuesday was spectacular. It warmed up to around 35 by the afternoon and the snow fantastic. Upper Wolverine was really sweet!.

We came home last night and unfortunately, I think it rained hard all day today.

Does that mean the weekend will be bad?

Gary's right. Hunter should bounce back real quickly. And demo day makes it a no-brainer to head up this weekend.

Sounds great, thanks guys.

It will be my opening day this year and also since my ACL tear. Bunny slopes, here I come!

Since Monday was my first day of the season, I expected to be very sore on Tuesday. If I'd known that I wouldn't be sore, I would have stayed over for Tuesday.
So it goes.

Oh, and yes, this weekend should be great after the refreeze and new snow on Friday.

It looks like it is turning to a mix.

I'm thinking of skiing tomorrow, Friday.
If I go I'll scribble about it under a new thread titled 'Hunter, Friday 12/12'.

After two straight days of rain, freezing rain, and sleet, with no new accumulations of snow, the temp will go down to 13 degrees on Friday night, then go up to a balmy 15 degrees on Saturday.
I don't know how I'm going to keep myself away, but I'll try. It will take willpower, but I'll try.
