Heard a rumor about HEAD USA

Thread Starter
I heard a rumor that Head skis will no longer be distributed in the US by Head Usa. THe canadian distributor is taking over. Dont know if it means anything will change other than where they ship from, but still interesting. I heard this became official last week from a very good source.

Sounds like there will be another profit level added, usually meaning higher pricing.

You guys are mixing metaphors. The US subsidiaries Grand Fromage is Canadian, excuse me for insulting him, he is Quebecois. So he gets to move closer to home.

For Head it makes perfect sense to combine customer service and management in 1 North American location. Hell for that matter they could do like the computer and credit card companies and have customer service contracted to India where labor costs are much lower. For shipping they can do like some of the other big companies and contract a public warehouse in the US to ship product to the retailers.

I would imagine since there is no management change the transition will be seamless, and no one will be the wiser. Qui?

Companies usually set-up separate US and Canadian subsidiaries because it's a pain to deal over the boarder, regardless where the warehouse is located. Our company did so due to currency and tax issues. In Quebec, firms have the added burden of language and cultural issues.

We'll see if the guppy can swallow the whale.

No offense intended.

We deal with consumers, vendors and reps in Quebec. They're good business associates. However, it's a different culture and language. Both parties work to bridge the gap.

To say the differences aren't a factor, is to deny cultural identities.

Did you miss my first post. The company has/is being run by a French Canadian. Did you have any communication or cultural problems with the existing company?????

FWIW at one time a large portion of Salomon North America was managed by a team of French Canadians. It happens to coincide with the best years of the companies existence. The current CEO of Head USA came from that management team.

After the transition, IMO you will not notice any decline of service.

Nope.

Don't ski Heads.

You said "combined", which implies elimination of one location. Unless we're having a communication or cultural problem, that means what once functioned in the US no longer does.

N'est pas?
