Driving Little Cottonwood Canyon

Does anyone know if the snow tire restrictions for LCC apply to 4WD vehicles? I want to head up to Snowbird tomorrow, and just read the snow tire restriction on the website, but separately it says "restricted to chains, 4WD and AWD". I have a Durango with 4WD but all-weather tires. When I lived in CO restrictions were always snow tires OR 4WD, but this seems to apply to any vehicle. Anyone been around here longer than I know the deal?

Every once in a while some new sheriff will try and pull the snow tire thing but the restriction is chains or 4 wheel drive. Snow tires are not part of it, as long as your tires aren't bald you shouldn't have a problem.

From the Snowbird website:

"The canyon road is open and restricted to vehicles with chains, 4x4, or AWD only. It is snowcovered and very slick."

Notice the word "or".

Thanks, guys.

Thanks that's about what I figured--couldn't imagine a snow tire checkpoint, unless it was real bad.

I did read that blurb from the website, but below it says snow tires on All vehicles entering the canyon.

I think it's worth it to finally get the season underway.
