Another amazing early season powder day! There were tons of fresh tracks. Game Creek opened this morning but was tracked out pretty fast. Heard a rumor that the back bowls would open tomorrow (Saturday). There were people on lift 5 and tracks in Sun Down Bowl. There are still plenty of powder stashes in the trees.

Scary:
The Northwood pic looks like a painting. Did you use a dslr?

Do you know the person in the red jacket? If so, the pic in a nice frame would make a great gift.

I used to ski Vail every year when I was a kid 25 years ago. I loved the back bowls and trees. I am looking forward to coming back in February.

Keep on posting the pics.

That is TERRIFIC news! I am heading out to Aspen for next weekend and the few more small storms going through are about all I should need to make it a good trip.

Excellent pic. I can't wait till I go to CO. These photos get me through my work day. Got 36 more nights till I fly out!

Keep 'em comin, my sister tends to forget how to e-mail me photos. lol! so I have to depend on epic!

Thanks for the props. Actually I am still using my old 6 megapix Sony Cybershot. It's indestructible but it is so slow that I have to lead the photo by a couple seconds. I was trying to shoot the skiers in black further down the hill. The skier in red came into the focal plane when the shutter released. Just got lucky. The camera has a Carl Zeiss lens so the pictures that do turn out look pretty decent. There was partial cloud cover so it made the light really soft. When there is filtered light the camera gives the pictures a "posterized effect" like this:

Soft Light

I have been searching Craigslist for a deal on a Digital Rebel DSLR. Maybe for Christmas.

Yeah, Game Creek opening was off the hook. We were among the first down and we must have blasted five or six runs before it was done. It was knee deep in the trees there. But it was a total frenzy and it got tracked out in a hurry. Northwoods was decent, but a bit boney in places. You definitely didn't want to charge any roll-overs since there were rocks sticking up everywhere.

Hopefully somebody made it up for the Sun Up/Sun Down opening & can post the details.
