Folsom Skis

Thread Starter
Just wanted to let you know that there is a new custom ski company in Boulder that is making skis individually to a person's own specifications. My son (Big Mountain Comp competitor) skiing on them last year and is continuing to do so this year. One of his ski buddies works for the company. I don't have a pair but my son very much likes the way his custom designed skis have turned out.

www.folsomskis.com

If people are interested I could see if anyone from the company wants to respond to questions here on Epic (if that's allowed?).

Thanks for posting this link Si. They have a really nice group of explanations for ski design terms, and I love the skis and graphics. I heard about this company but hadn't seen their site. Very cool.

Totally allowed. Particularly if they want to engage in some open discussion with anybody from Epic who's interested.

What's frowned on is hit-and-run posts that spam a site or company and then the poster is never heard from again.

My ears always pick up when I hear about Folsom Skis, because I live in Folsom, CA...home of Folsom State Pen of Johnny Cash fame, and if I were to make skis on my own here that's probably what I'd name them....Anywhooooo..... I always have to remind myself that Folsom Skis were formed on Folsom Street in Boulder, CO I think? Isn't that how the name came about?

Anyway, best of luck to Folsom. The Give'r looks like my kind of ski.

You don't think the homophone Fall So.. is unfortunate in this context?

Folsom Here

Hi all,
Sorry for the late response, we have been very busy in our shop.

Tyrone: Yes, we are named after a street in Boulder (the first one I lived on actually). We have a Johnny Cash graphic we will be releasing soon too....

For those of you who have yet to hear about us, Folsom Customs specializes in designing high performance all mountain, big mountain and backcountry skis that are incredibly durable. Skis are handcrafted one at a time and customized to each skier from construction to graphics. We treat each skier as an their own individual athlete and work to design skis to complement them. We also operate with an environmental conscience, using only core materials that can be sustainably harvested (like poplar and bamboo) and reducing the amounts of toxic elements used in and for our ski manufacturing.

Please feel free to ask any questions!

Ya know, if a company could get beyond the Calif. ecological restrictions, the labor costs at Folsom Prison would prolly be more competitive than over seas. They do have a craft shop you can special order custom products from. And a savings on shipping within the U.S. No ships to be pirated or held hostage with cargo. Tryrone maybe think about volunteering to train inmates in the art of ski manufacturing ? Have a bro making bro's ?

I would like anyone interested to know that I received a very nice pair of Folsom Customs and the process of building them was great.  Now, all I need is enough snow to take them out and see what they do.  Picture attached.  Project snow thoughts.  DL

 Those are purty!

Which model did you choose?

Like your quote.  These are HyperChunks.  Wide.  Got them primarily for AK and special Wasatch days.  22m radius. 124 under foot. DL
