Well, I hope the Super-G is better than the DH. That race was bogus. I think there should be a recall.

I did not see it, why do you say that?

I wouldn't call it bogus, but the weather did play havoc for some of the racers (particularly the top of the field). Sunny and favourable winds for the first 10 racers or so, then changed to nasty headwinds and bad light for everyone up to the mid 30s or 40s, after which it went back to sunny and reasonable winds. So some of the late starting guys got into the points, with Carlo Janka starting 65 and finishing 2nd.

However that's part of Ski Racing, everyone competing knows that, and I don't think it should take anything away from what Fill, Janka or anyone else did.

Also, you can watch the whole race (direct feed - no commentary) on the CBC's on demand site: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/ondemand/
I don't know if it's accessible outside Canada or not, but it's a nice resource.

I certainly don't mean to take anything away from the top finishers & CanukInstructor is right, that's ski racing. The recall thing was tongue in cheek. It is just frustrating to see guys like Cuche, Svindal, Miller, Walchofer & others ski the rough & chattery course so well & be penalized by changing weather conditions.

Also a total bummer that Francois Bourque tore his ACL the day before the race. He was going to be a serious factor in the SuperG - had been skiing really well/fast all summer.

Especially bad going into an Olympic year. There's probably no way he'll be able to come back in time.

Both the DH and SG ate up a few racers. I was one of the course maintenance workers this year and we had a heck of a time with the course due to all of the snow.

The course was in great shape for the races. If you ever get a chance, work on the crew to see the race live.

Svindel looked strong all weekend. If Bode held his lines, I think he could have had podium finishes. It was nice to see Ligety place in the GS.

Sounds like Bobert's talking about Beaver Creek, where the rest of the thread is discussing the previous WC DH and SG at Lake Louise. Tough weather in that one {LL}. Good of you to work the races. Great experience. I would say that "Svindal looked strong" is an understatement. Wow. Still, I'm a huge Bode fan.

Lol my fault. I was a bit tired today. i heard the weather was quite interesting from LL.

The experience was great and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
