In my continuing quest to modernize my ski technique, I'm no longer thinking of 'crossover' and 'crossunder'. I'm just staying centered and neutral and trying to be subtle about changes in direction. It certainly seems to work! I went to Loon yesterday (a good place to practice with its moderately steep smooth cruisers) - my 4th day out this season - and it finally clicked: I skied the crap out of the place! Also, I'm no longer forcing a wider stance - I'm just letting my feet go where they're comfortable - I'd say hip-width maximum. I'm no longer trying to get my body away from my skis, but I am letting it go there when gravitational forces dictate. So, what do you think - am I making progress at age 54 with over 40 years of skiing behind me? Be gentle!
