Our local state rep suggests that we widen I-70. This will only have a minimal effect. I mean, what good is widening the trails if the lift won't operate? Also, her suggestion was only made in order to gain points against her opponent, who wanted to create an alternate form of transportation.
For example, she has been quoted as saying that she is opposed to doing anything to make it easier to get here because "she doesn't want Summit County to become a "bedroom community of Denver."
It's this type of elitism that is financially destroying our resorts, as well as our local businesses. For better or for worse, we are a destination location, not Brigadoon. The people who whine about lack of business and a slow economy are the same people who are outraged at any suggestions about making it easier to get here. They seem to forget that it's convenient and cheap to get to the SLC resorts.

That's a possibility!
Also, we don't know what kind of state the economy will be in come 2018. However, the distinction of being the future site of the 2018 Winter Olympics may be the shot in the arm that Colorado resorts need.
