A cheap bicycle helmet?

I have a cheap bicycle helmet bought for rollerskating. Can I use it for skiing? Better than nothing or totally useless?

Thanks

The ventilation of a bike helmet may be excessive for skiing, and besides, you'll have a terrible case of gaper gap. Truthfully, wear what makes you comfortable, but if you are going to bother with a skiing helmet, get one designed for the job. You don't need to spend a lot, and there are lots of used ones if that is what makes sense to your budget.

Cyclists seldom fall backwards.

I tried to get my son to wear something like that when he was about 12, after suffering a tearful, near concussion while snowboarding. Because of fashion considerations he opted to take his chances with more concussions until a "real helmet" could be obtained.

thread hijack: when is a good time to buy new or used bicycles, from bike shops or craigslist? January?

used bike right now...

as for the helmet look on steepandcheap.com and all of its sister sites.

I found a G10 for around 30 bucks last year, I refuse to pay retail for something that could be gone after one big hit.

Keep a sharp eye on clist between now and Xmas, there might be some desperation sales in between the usual 150-200% overprice offers. I didn't see anything in DC in the last week that wasn't overpriced. (I did see some that looked smoking hot).

Otherwise, Westminster swap is coming up. Go visit shops now.

More like IS gone. We've all seen your grammar... you'll be OK without the helmet.

That entire paragraph was in reference to DC craigslist. Apparently, not clearly enough.

I want to go on record that I was joking around with Bush, I was in no way serious... if this computer didn't have spellcheck my posts would be 'odd' also. I just replaced the helmet I broke on a tree at the end of last season. Helmet = Good.

BWPA, are you at Smugg's this season???
