Zip Fits?

Was wondering about Zip Fit liners. How do they perform? I've heard they may be a little sloppy in the forefront due to lack of flow material there. Any truth to that?

How much room do they require in the shell? Would they fit into a Nordica Speed Machine 14?

What does anyone know about Nordica foam liners? I realize the skill and experience of the boot tech is paramount, but is the foam soft enough to be comfortable as opposed to painful?

I put some zip fit liners into a pair of Head World Cup. Didn't go over to well with the first fitting. Really made my feet hurt. I talked to Zip Fit directly. It is very important to heat the shells along with the liners. I put them in the oven for 20 minutes at 200 degrees( I advise only doing this when the significant other is not around). Made all the difference in the world. I do have an orthotic footbed that I did not heat up. I can put the boots in the morning and not take them till the end of the day. No hot spots. Seems to have stiffened up the boots a little. I'm very pleased.

Zip fits saved my feet. I saw no sloppiness in the forefoot, but they have a bunch of different models with different volumes and will let you know which one would work best for your foot and boot. Zip fit has excellent customer service and will help you if you ask.

As grumpy wrote, important to heat shells the first time. you don't have to put them in the oven. You can heat them very quickly by inverting them over a pot of steaming water. Once they are fit, you don't have to do it again, although i recommend the hot gear bag. there is nothing quite like putting your feet into lusciously warm boots in the morning!

Don't be afraid of the DIY fitting. If i can do it, anyone can. And if you don't like how you did it the first time, you can redo it as many times as you like without harming performance.

yay zipfit!
