Dynastar Big Trouble Review

Last years BT in a 176

Me 190#'s very lean, 5' 10" Ski very aggressive, Zipper line, jumps, etc..

I've finaly had enough days on this ski where I feel I can review it here.

First, I wish I got the 186. I feel I needed the extra length for landings on the man made stuff. The ski has very turned up tips and tails.
This is a very quick, fun ski. Felt very light on my feet but super stable. Great edge hold. Carves very well for a wide ski. The finish of a carved turn isn't that of a carving ski but it's not.

Compared to Mantra it skis short but is quicker in the bumps. Almost as stable but didn't quite have the top end of the Mantra but close. I'd say edge grip was equal but Mantra carves better.

BT seems so smooth out varied snow where you don't feel the changes in snow conditions. It makes everything feel like soft snow.

Crud was a strong point. As were bumps as I mentioned. This may become my everyday East coast bump ski.
I imagine the 186 would be a killer one ski quiver for east coast bumps, all mountain and powder.

Very Very impressed, 4.7 out of 5
That being said I bet it would be full on 5 stars in a 186.

After 15 days on this ski I will say it is the best ski that 275.00 can buy!
Amazing underated ski. No weak points at all. The only critique would be the tails are turned up a little too much.
Easy, fun, carvy, grippy and smooth.
I'm getting the 186 as well.

Standard freeride line. They are my new Favorite ski. Plus for the money it's a no brainer!!

176 Big Trouble

Standard mount is 79 cm from tail for All Mtn. Mounted mine with Look PX 12 adjustable bindings at 79 cm boot sole mount point. Skied them 1/2 day moved them back one click on the bindings from the mount point and smoothed the ski out perfect. Great ski!!!

Just picked up a pair of '09 186 BT's from Tramdock for $350! So psyched to get on 'em, should be a nice upgrade from my beat-to-hell Recons.

I'm hearing a lot that people wish they got the 186, I'm 5' 11" 220#'s and have the 166 and am completely in love with them.  Why do you like the longer model?

More stability. More float and utility in soft snow. Easier to balance on a longer ski...
