AN OPEN LETTER: Hi I just moved to Vail. I want to be a superstar.

Thread Starter
Greetings,

My name is vailskier79. I'll be living in Vail this upcoming winter and I'd just like to know who else on this forum lives in the Vail Valley?

Let me introduce myself by giving you a little information on my background. I grew up skiing in the Midwest on a tiny hill with about 300 vert. At the age of 17 I ditched the parents and moved "Out West". After a 2 year stint full of drug abuse and hitchhiking I ended up in the Aspen area. Cocaine was a huge part of my life, as it was for many in the Aspen area (and ski community as a whole).

Today, 2008-2009, I find myself in the Vail Valley, specifically the Avon area. I landed a nice gig cleaning toilets, but I don't mind. Even the rich people take large shits (but, they wipe too!!). The coke is free from my mind, yet I think about it everyday!

Vail is coming together for me. I'm making the right contacts and have steady employment. Next time you vacation in Vail/BC, you can rest assured, your public restroom has been cleaned by my crew!

My goal this year is to become a superstar. I want to get into the X-games. I really hope that I can meet the right people in order to achieve this. My strengths are in the park for sure. I can do super sick 720's, and a front-flip on occasion. I'm really hoping to improve this winter, but I need some support.

In order to become a superstar I need to mimic the pros.

Any help is appreciated. Contacts, jobs, help, etc.

Cheers,
JD

Yep. Is there an ignore feature here?

My best advise is to stay off the junk and at all costs avoid the streets of Vail late at night or you may be tempted by those all those crack dealers.

This is awesome!

First thing I'd do is find Chaos and just bask in all his gloryness. That alone should make you a superstar.

I think your a whip for quiting cocaine. Get back on that night train soldier, your mom would be ashamed for raising a quitter.

okay, just doing rudimentary math here, if the OP was indeed born in 1979 and they were doing coke at 17, that would put the timeline around 1996. granted i've never done any coke, but wasn't it mostly a 1980s drug? I thought Ecstacy was the drug of choice in the 1990s.

additionally, this would put the OP at 29 years of age, which seems pretty damn old to set one's sites on the X-Games, which generally speaking have a demo in the late teens and early 20s.

but hey, if you've kicked the white and are working hard to pay rent with a shitty job, and you want to live the dream, go for it buddy!

best of luck.

You need some Chaos.

Than buy a full-face helmet.

Stardom shall be yours.

Sounds like it is time to continue keep your nose to the grindstone instead of the mirror and settle down. Once you establish yourself in the community as a stand up reliable person you'll probably meet someone to share your life and dreams with. Then the two of you can procreate and live those dreams vicariously through your kids.

You can still work on your skiing and compete in the meantime, but we all know you won't be riding anything else but a hearse if you don't stick to your program.

Good Luck

First things first.... get your park uniform right. Clothes should be at the minimum, 4 or 5 sizes too large. Your suspenders on your pants should always hang down. If you have trouble keeping your baggy pants mid ass, use secondary suspenders. I suggest Sag Straps.

Always wear a HUGE t-shirt under your jacket. If it is not long enough to show out the bottom of the jacket, stretch it like so:

Really pull it down over the knees..... sometimes it will take quite a bit of effort, but it's worth it for the right look.

The finished product should look something like this:
