Crossfit and Starting Strength

I just got back from my first ski trip. I have been blown away by the results of 6 months of crossfit and barbell weight training. I was not sore. Let me repeat that again. I was not sore. I skied 3 days in a row at Mammoth. I just turned 58. I know I have never skied with this much power and flexibility, ever. I did the gym training with the machines along with a lot of bicycle riding for many years. What a waste of time. What appears to be a simple program is laced with subtle movement patterns that bring huge benefits. The movements are all so functional that just about anything involving machines is a waste of time. Anything that can let me ski top to bottom nonstop on the first day of the season is a miracle. I've been skiing since I was 6. I just wish I new about this a long long time ago. I am very lucky to have been able to train at the Santa Cruz Cental Crossfit gym with Eva T. She is a former World Cup ski racer. After looking at her knees(8 operations) when she told me I could do it I wasn't so sure. Now I'm a total believer. Thanks Crossfit.
