There's not much of anything of interest there; the part of Ontario between Detroit and Buffalo is so flat that Southeast Michigan seems hilly by comparison. There's a couple of ~200' hills near Toronto, but that's about it. The real hills are along the southern shore of the Georgian Bay, or near Ottawa.
Searchmont would be a reasonable detour on this trip, but afterwards it would make a lot more sense to head back to Michigan than to drive around the north shore of the Georgian Bay. While there are a few little ski areas along the way, they're pretty small (I know this from many many conversations on the Searchmont chairlift with people from Elliot Lake, Sudbury, etc.)
Blue Mt. is the other well-respected Ontario Resort, but it would be a huge detour - your choice is to drive 3/4 of the way around either the Georgian Bay or Lake Huron.
Other than that, there's a place in Thunder Bay, but now we're talking about going around the north shore of Lake Superior. Doubtful.
