Soelden vs Kitzbuhel

We will be taking a few day after the ISPO Ski Show in Munich in early February heading to either Soelden or Kitzbuhel- I know Kitz is the nicer town but for skiing what do you think? If snow is decent at both?

Opinions?

Kitz is lower elevation, but if the snow is OK, you would have access to a far larger ski area there.

lower elevation = really low

kitz up to 2000 metres
sölden up to 3250 metres

I like it in Sölden... Very nice aprés-ski.
The main problem for Kitzbühel is simply the lack of snow sometimes, but if there is snow, you'll have fun anywhere

Kitzbühel is nice, but there is a possibility that it will suck - but it depends on the weather, it needs to be cold and snowy Sölden is very nice, especially if it isn't too crowdy.. What about a place like Ischgl? That's a bit like Sölden, but the apresski is better Btw. go high!

As so often check snow conditions before you go to Kitzbühel., although you should be o.k. during February. Sölden is not as spread out but has the better skiing overall. Both have a decent apres ski szene if that is your cup of tea.

...yes, up to a point, but personally I feel the atmosphere of the medieval old town in Kitz wins hands down over Solden's rather spread-out main street.
And don't forget this place:

Thanks Martin! Miss you here in Vail- how are things at Yellowstone given the bankruptcy?

When's the Hahnenkamm? That might influence your decision.

That should rather keep you away instead of going to see it!
A massive crowd on the slopes then :P

And you can ski it yourself when there's no race held

(I'd love to see it once though )

I've skied the Hahnenkam Think I was 10 or 12 years old Just a lot of bumps

Skied it for the first time last season. Not an expert skier. S**t myself all the way down the Double Diamond bits but didnt fall until walking into ski hut for a beer to celebrate.....then fell on my backside slipping on the wooden floor!

Kitzbühel is depending on snow! Low altitude. You can just plan Kitz on short notice. In Sölden you got the glacier and you can even ski in Summer...If you plan now you can just take Sölden or other higher altitude resorts like Zillertal with Tuxer.

Liebe Grüße
Christoph
