An efficient system for drying boots and gloves.

waxing and minor tune/repair capability. (a piece of plywood with 2X4 lifts to raise the skis and de-stacco clamps is an adequate solution.) A shop can do it, but when it's puking the detour can be a hassle.

Go for Hendricks instead of Bombay Saphire.

Cliff bars for quick powder day breakfasts. Lots of coffee, lots of pasta, giant bulk boxes of powdered detergent. +2 on the ski porn.

Take a small area and make it a tuning area, have a communal bench and chip in on expendable items like p-tex, bulk wax, base cleaner (if thats your thing), fiberlene etc. Figure out who has the best vises and mount those to the table (or buy some). If you trust your buddies, you can pool your tuning tools too.

Keep a fire extinguisher handy. Board games, cards, dice, a stash of rubbers no one will use etc.

Are you guys living there or vacationing there?

we got the house from Nov 22 until april 22. I'll be up there every weekend, maybe even during the week if we get a big dumping. All Xmas and New years, and a vacation week in the spring.

I like the call for maker's mark, i thought that was a given

First aid kit
small tool box
fire extinquisher
old gear for visiting buddies and replacements
duct tape lol

keep em coming.

great call on the tuning, my friend is gonna bring his bench and materials

A good single malt. In fact, kick the door down. Three or four good single malts. Comparison evenings are fun.

Beer.

A decent TV and DVD player. Ditto decent sound system.

If the place doesn't have a washing machine/dryer buy one. Cheap is fine, it only has to last one season.

A good, big pot for cooking stews/chilli/soup and keeping it bubbling.

Coffee maker. Up to you what sort. But you have to have coffee in the same way you have to have air.

Board games.

BOOKS. Call me old fashioned.

The way this is going, you're also going to need a Calvin and Hobbes "no gurlz allowed" sign.

I confess to contributing, but this isn't a ski house, it's a stag do ...

This thread brings back ancient memories.

Get a bunch of old stuff from yard sales or the basements of relatives.
Old TV, old movies (ski and regular) with old vhs or dvd player, outdated video game system, old ski mags
Fire starting materials and chain saw if woodpile is low, extra auto antifreeze and washer fluid
Old snow sleds or toboggans if you're near a decent hill, a couple sets of second hand nordic ski set-ups, old snow boots
Popcorn, hot chocolate, canned soup, spaghetti sauce and pasta, second hand ice cream making machine
Extra old hats, gloves, air mattress, sweaters, sleeping bags, towels, sheets

PS: a hair dryer for unexpected female guests

wow, thanks guys. this thread really took off!

We have wireless up there, we have a jacuzzi, huge deck, but surprisingly: no fireplace

totally sucks. Id much rather have a fireplace than a 110' deck. its a new house so i guess if they figured it would mostly be leases, it would be safer to insure?

who knows?

Loved the idea about getting an old gaming system... maybe i can try and finally beat super Mario 3 without having to skip levels.

Don't forget the fondue pot to go along with the cougar sandwich.

Sucks about no fireplace.

I'm sure you'll be using the deck not at all.

Dood. Salt lick and a couple of BB guns would fix that right easy.

Are you kidding me? Decks are great in winter, can you say gimongous beer fridge?

Every year some unused room/porch/deck of where I live is turned into a beer fridge. Summer sucks, I have no room for brew
