Sad news.

Found out today my very good friend and ski/snowmobile Bud Randy is full of Cancer. He was dealing with a sore neck this Summer and finally got it checked out as the swelling was getting worse. Turned out to be a Cancer the size of a golf ball. Since having it removed, his latest checkup revealed it has spread to the lymph glands and other places. He is undergoing Radiation treatments immediately with hopes of controling the spread but the prognosis isn't good.

I'm crushed. He's just 57 years aand full of life. We've spent so many days skiing, snowmobiling, golfing as well as partying, laughs.

It was Randy who at the time lived in Louisville, Colorado, first took me to Mary Jane and Outhouse, who laughed while I tortured myself trying to survive the trip down. That was 27 years ago. Countless times skiing moguls with him over the years, sharing laughs and having fun. I'm not going to take this well. My heart is breaking for him and my thoughts of him not being around much longer.

The power of Prayer is awesome and I can only hope that you, my friends here will join with me and my Friend as he tries to beat this disease.

Thanks

My wife's brother had brain cancer 2 years ago. Now he's been diagnosed with cancer in his back and his lungs. A hard situation.

We have to assume our life is in control, predictable, and unfolding according to plan.

Yet, we're dinged with reminders that such is not the case. Our lives hang from a thread. It's all more random, and chaotic than we dare imagine.

The best of luck and good wishes to Randy. May fate be kind.

No one on this forum is guaranteed a tomorrow. The best use of our time is to live a full life knowing each day could be the last one: don't be afraid to say "I love you", don't procrastinate, and find humor every day.

Vibes for you and Randy, Lars. Your friendship will mean more to him now than ever.

My sympathies to Randy and all his family and friends.

As Bonni pointed out, it's important every now and then to take a step back and cherish your health and time on this Earth.

Sending positive thoughts to you and Randy, Lars. ++++

Lars,
In August 07, my great 30 yr golf and ski bud developed shoulder pain. His physical therapist found a bump that should not have been there and that was the begining of an 8 month slow downward sprial dance with Cancer. I miss him greatly. Just be there for him as much as you can. Hopefully, his path will have a better ending.
My friend loved life like few I have known. He hated groomers and while riding lifts would constantly search for untracked small patches of snow. In January of 09, I'm returning to Jackson Hole, his favorite ski area, with some of his ashes.
Here's to a better day for your friend,
Mike

It's not nice to make a girl cry. What a wonderful thing to do for your friend and I am certain his spirit will soar over those beautiful mountains.

Thanks so much friends.

It's a comfort to know we're not alone and that people actually do show compassion and lend a hand and thoughts to strangers.

This forum is full of good people.

I know exactly how you're feeling and my thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone else who is directly or indirectly dealing with this cruel disease.

He's really upspirited Weems. Thanks for asking. He's in the first week of Radiation treatments. Commuting to Buffalo everyday as there is no facilities here. He's determined to beat this thing although he knows his chances. Like he says though, "What else can I do but fight"?

If anyone can beat cancer, it's Randy.

Good on 'im. Tell him we're all sending prayers and energy.

You know what Weems? It's fricking awesome of you, knowing the tragedy you've been through the past year, to be concerned about my friend who you don't even know in their time of need. It really shows me what kind of person you are and from the bottom of my heart, thanks so much.
