Comparison of Icelantic Pilgrims to Monster 88's

Has anybody skied both of these skis? I would to get a comparison of the two. I have never skied either of these. I have the Nomads and love them. I looking for ski to bridge the gap between my Magnums and Nomads. I have a pair of Recons that I hate. The Nomads do not handle the hard pack/ice very well here in the East. They are a blast when there is fresh snow though. Are the Pilgrims as stiff as the Nomads? The 88's are great all mountain ski back here from what every one says.

I have the Pilgrims and the Nomads and flexing the two, the Pilgrims are somewhat softer. I bought both at the end of last season, so I haven't skied on either, but the Pilgrims do appear softer when flexed, but I am the first to say that this does not always reflect on real world feel. I don't have the Monster 88s but my understanding is that they are fairly stiff and damp. If they are at all similar to my Head Supershapes, they will be much stiffer than the Pilgrim.

I would say the Pilgram is closer to the Nomad than the 88. If you are looking for something that os very good on the ice, I would lean to the 88 over the Nomad.

Bridge a Supershape magnum? If so, you have the SS magnum, it covers your hard snow needs so maybe a mid 80's ski is what you are looking for. Why the 88? It's a great ski for some but I would look for something soft snow oriented;bumps, trees and soft snow cruising. lots to choose from

I have the soft snow ski in the Nomads. But the problem with these is that after things get scrapped off. They do not hold at all. I was thinking of something in the mid fat range 88-90 to handle this type of condition. Few inches of fresh pow 6-8" thjat would get scrapped off by lunch. I not looking for a pow ski got that. The 88 is a hard charging ski that can handle most things from what the Ski Haus guys tell me. I like the Nomads so much for powder and trees that I would like to consider the Pilgrims if they are similar to the 88's

I've looked at alot of ski's tryin to find a the perfect fresh snow ski. Because I live in the east I limited my self to a 88-100 width ski. I knee I wanted an all mt. ski that would be quick as a ninja in tree's. I've heard alot of good reviews from skiers in stowe vt. who use this ski. I'd love to get this ski right now, but a college budget is holding me back...waiting to snipe some on ebay...

Does anyone have an opinion on how long these skis actually ski?

I am 5'8,155lbs. and looking for a 170 ski. Would the Pilgrims in 169 be a good all mountain ski for myself?

I spoke with someone from Icelantic directly. I'm 5'11, 210lb and was thinking about the 179 pilgrim until I spoke with the rep. He thought that the 169 would be enough ski for me. I hope this helps.
Cheers
