On the list potentially, Revy, KH, Whitefish, Red, Turner, Schweitzer, plus areas local to Seattle.
Any tips welcome?
First, for the ski areas you list, you would be much better flying into Spokane, would really cut down your driving time etc.. My old Tahoe ski bud and I did a 6 day ski road trip 2 years ago. Out aim was to ski and do it reasonably so heres some recommendations based on that trip:
Going clockwise from Spokane. N/E to Sandpoint Idaho and Schweitzer Mt., Quality Inn in Sandpoint is reasonable and nice and convenient.
Backtrack a little and N to Red Mt. best lodge cheap and close (5 min) to Red is the Thrift Lodge. Clean/Close and ok
E to Whitewater at Nelson. Alpine Motel, good place.
NOTE. Valhalla Powder Cats used to have a Standby for cat skiing at a good price. Call the eve before to see if cat has room. Good People. On web.
Red-White and You Lift Pass. 3 day pass for Red and Whitewater for a good price. also on web
North to Kicking Horse and Revelstoke. Highway 95 N-S in the winter is a much better/faster/safer highway than going up 6 or 31.
Can't comment on KH or Revel. haven't been there yet.
Fernie, on way back or whatever. Stayed with friends so can't help you on lodge. Great skiing some great powder, steep and trees. Liked Lizard Bowl the best.
Whitefish, stay at the Downtown Motel. Sort of a dump but ok and cheap. Also can walk to town, 2 blks, Red Caboose on main drag had good food and reasonable.
Coming back or: Montana Ski Bowl, just N of Missoula - con tact Volant Addict here on Epic for more info.
Silver Mt., Kellogg Idaho, contact me if want to ski, good off piste skiing.
Where are you from. Do you have a good BC map for skiers? If not PM me and send me your address and I will mail you one.
Usually there are some special lift ticket deals going on during season. Past years there has been coupons for Tue at 49 Degree North, the RED White and You pass for Whitewater and Red etc. Skiing hasn't started yet here, raining right now outside.
If I can help/just ask. Pete
