The mens' 500m was where all the falls happened.
If you like slapstick, the Korean coach's face as he leaped headfirst off the ice into the bleachers to avoid being hamburgered by his racer's skates- precious.
Couldn't find a comment on it; I reckon early season over enthusiasm + hard ice.
On the video distance (1500m) it was a game of anaerobic energy systems, almost a lecture by example. Every skater hit the pain wall at 90 seconds, it was merely a question of who had paced themselves. Watching Angemuller (sp?) bonk at 85 seconds after she overcooked the launch and first lap was just incredible cause and effect.
It was broadcast over the air as part of the Universal Sports package that also sponsors this site.
