I am cross posting here as there may be some members from Crested Butte who have a recommendation but don't look at the Ask the Boot Guys Forum.
I have a colleague (orthopaedic surgeon who lives in Atlanta) who is a good skier and in the past has made 1 or 2 ski trips out west per year. He has a very bad ankle (from a bad break many years ago) that has caused increasing pain over the years. At this point he is close to being unable to ski any longer due to ankle pain (especially when his ankle is forced into forward flexion and his shin into the tongue).
He is planning a trip Crested Butte this year and I am wondering if anyone knows of a top notch boot fitter/alignment specialist who could work with him there? I believe he is amenable to a comprehensive approach, including new boots if they can make a difference. I have explained to him how proper fit and alignment (boot ramp angle, forward lean, heel lifts, cuff canting, stiffness, boot sole canting, etc.) might be able to improve things enough to allow him to ski with much less pain and he is very interested in exploring a comprehensive approach to his issues.
As he does live in Atlanta, a boot fitter/alignment specialist there might be a possibility but I thought there'd probably be better opportunity in Crested Butte.
