He shoots..he SCORES! - Page 2

My score I just got......

2009 Head Monster 78 177's brand new for $299. I felt like I stole them. I can't even find last years model for less then about $375 with out them being used.

P.S.: Like those Volant's you picked up. Plus the supersize Crown Royal bag just screams "Classy". Been on some Volant Machetes for the last three years and really love the way they ski.

Would you care to share how you did that?

That's not just a score, that's sinking a desperation shot from mid-court at the last tick of the clock!

When *are* you coming, by the way? We should try to make some actual runs this time rather than just a few turns at the end of the day like that last time. I need to put your JH dates in my calendar.

I keep telling her it's a buffing cloth.

You leave the Genesis Ms outside the room door each night, the shoe valet picks them up...

Intent on never renting skis and boots again, I have spent a better part of the past three months digging through these forums looking for tips and pointers on what gear to buy and from where. I would like to thank everyone for the great posts and advice.

I am totally stoked to have picked up some Elan Magfire 8s from Dawg for a song ($319). I found some Goode graphite poles for cheap thanks to someone else on the list ($19). But buying boots from San Antonio, Texas was a chore .

All in all, I bought 10 pairs of boots before finding the winners. I bought 2 pairs of Lange Fluid '80s (too soft in flex), 2 pairs of Technica Diablo Fires (pinched), 2 pairs of Salomon Falcon 9s (too small in the toe box), 2 pairs of Salomon Impact 8s (just not nice at all) and 2 pairs of Salomon X Wave 8.0s (YEAH!). The sizes I bought ranged from 26.5 to 28.5, not knowing my exact size and having rented both 27.5s and 28.5s in last couple of years.

After reading everyone's advice about checking shell size, toe's touching the front when standing and moving back slightly when leaned forward and the fact that most people buy boots that are too big, I figured out that I had been renting boots that were too big and that 26.5 was the perfect size. I wear a 9.5 to 10 in regular shoes, but 42 in Birkenstocks.

After trying on and wearing each and every boot, I decided that the X-Waves rule! I can't wait to get on the slopes!!!!!!! This forum has kept me sane while I wait for snow!!!! I paid around $200 for the boots.

Keep up the posts and the pictures!!!!! ~(-<-<//

I will certainly let you know when the dates are finalized! I'm looking forward to skiing the rest of the mountain with you.

Last night, at the TGR showing at our local hill, my buddy Matt (who you have also skied with), won a silent auction for (2) 3-day lift tickets..... his bid? $150. I IMMEDIATELY called dibs on the second one.... So at least Matt and I will be out.

I'll let you know.

The Bozeman ski swap was this weekend. Usually there are tons of great deals from Alpine High in Billings but they've been doing such a good job unloading their excess inventory on us and the maggots that the picking were slim. I did pick up some 2006 174cm Rossi 9X with matching gold & black Rossi 120 Axial Pro in great condition for $30. I bought them for the bindings but will play with the skis when the snow is hard. I also picked up a pair of new 181cm Elan 999s for $200. They have a reputation for being soft which is great because I was looking for a fat soft twin for the trees.

My preseason scores include an Arc'Teryx Venta AR jacket for $169 via Ebay (retail $300), a pair of Arc'Teryx Stingray pants for $150 via Gear Swap THANKS ALEX! (retail $350) and a pair of Lange Freeride 130s for $225 via TGR Gear Swap. All this stuff is brand new but I also got a pair of used Mojo 15 bindings and a pair of Rossi Demo bindings- both for $100. I can't wait to lay into some poor, unsuspecting mountain in a few weeks. Oh, and I got some PM Gear 183s on preorder, which saved me a hundo.

Hard to beat Rio's score on this but my two most recent are:

-- Pocket Rockets 175cm mounted with 7tm Power releasable tele bindings -- either new or mint condition at a ski swap - $100.

-- 2008 Fischer RX8 FIRE FTI - new on eBay -- $230 shipped.

HINT -- same seller has a 2008 RX6 on ebay with a great buy-it-now price

You owe me a new monitor...mine is now ge-splattered with Harpoon IPA.

My score this year is a pair of Scott Punishers (191cm) for under $200 from Tramdock - have a pair of Look P11 Axials with wide brakes in the closet to mount on 'em. Not quite as good as the Dynamic VR17s I scored a couple of years ago for $19 ($69 - $50 credit for buying season pass at the ski swap), or the Icon XT17s for $55, but I'm still stoked.

Now if those Hestras will only appear again on Tramdock....

That's not fair. The carpet was installed in 1979!
The trick is to work hard, and pop in at the house long enough to pick up your gear(ski, golf, biking) and head out for fun. When you get back home, its dark and you don't notice that you live in a house that's dated, until the retro look is back in

My friend Rasputin just picked up an AT rig on TGR: 184 Atomic R:EX with Fritsche Freerides and Black Diamond clipfix skins for $205 shipped. Apparently the bindings and skins have six days on them. Oh yeah!

My friend krp8128 almost went for the same rig on tgr

My score so far this year has been the DR9 bindings on S900 skis for $10. I pulled them off and shipped the skis to Rossi Smash for the price of shipping and a good six pack.

Next!!
I got one of those eggplant helmets too -- nice color (though it doesn't match anything I own). It even fits my egg head. I also scored the audio kit for only $6.

My recent score was a pair of Head iM82 from Tramdock -- they just got here today. It was too good of a deal to pass up, though I have serious quiver overlap in the 80mm range now. But I needed skis to go with the Head LD12 bindings I scored last spring.... I am looking forward to mounting them up this weekend.
