Sell me some rock skis

As soon as some new terrain opens up I plan on heading up to the hills. I was in the basement yesterday and realized that my son took my rock skis (Intuitiv 71's 182cm) to college this fall. That leaves me with my fairly new Legend 8K's and a mint pair of Pocket Rockets I just picked up for powder days. I really don't care to gouge the bases of either of these if it can be avoided.

Before I hit eBay or the local shops, who has something for me? I am looking for something that I can use early season and late season when there is corn, ice and some sun-softened. Something like the Intuitivs, B1's, K2 Axis... They don't have to be pretty, just not dalaming or dangerous.

If push comes to shove, my wife has a pair of B1w's in 176 that she rarely uses. I could use those but: 1) they are women's skis and 2) if I gouge the bases she will not be happy. PM if you have something. Thanks

I have some 180cm Fischer Sceneo S500 (118-68-100mm, R17) with new Rossignol Axial 110 bindings for $150 plus shipping. These are in excellent condition. They ski like a beefy RX9.

I also have a pair of 186cm Salomon Supermountains, 79mm underfoot. These are near new. I would want $90 plus shipping.

I have a used pair of 182 cm Dynastar Speed Course 66s w/ Look P14 bindings that I picked up this summer before blowing out my ACL. Bases and edges seem to be in good shape, but not sure how many times they have been ground. You could pick them up here in Summit for $150.

I could also let go of some 185 cm Solomon Scream Hot 10P (75 mm underfoot) with integrated bindings (no redrill) if you are interested. They have about 50 days on them, 1 small core shot away from the edge that has been perfectly repaired and are due for a tune. These do well in spring snow, but the Speed Course 66s are likely better on the firmer stuff

I sent you a PM about a pair of 184 Elan M666 Fusions (integrated Tyrolia binding with 12 DIN) with less than 15 days on them. Actually, prolly too nice for rock skis, but hey, check your box...

I'm curious to know your thoughts on the Intuitive 71's. I have an unmounted, still in plastic pair, 182's. Got'em on e-bay but I've never had them mounted. The reviews seemed positive but they have some overlap with another ski I have. I'm going to Jackson in Jan. and was considering taking them as a second pair.

Mike,

There are probably better reviewers than I but I found them a very versatile ski. They were not real stiff, but very stable when put on edge or pushed. They handled hard pack, icy bumps and pretty much every hard surface but ice quite well. They were not great in crud or powder, but were probably as good as any 70mm waisted ski. While they were not short-turning carvers, I spent a lot of time in the trees late season and found them very versatile. All in all they were a ski that you did not have to work too hard at. They are a very smooth ski. My legend 8000’s have a lot of the same qualities, but are the 71’s on steroids. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the review and your comments seem pretty much in line with what I had read.

Now for the funny part. I sold em! Yep, and I did it via Philpug. His shop had a consignment sale this weekend and I gave him 3 pairs, one of which was the Inutitives. They sold the first night. As I was giving Phil the skis, he told me that you did a deal with him for new rock skis. Phil rocks!

Well then it looks like they were put to good use. You are correct, Phil does rock. He shot me a great deal on some new rock skis and is even remounting the bindings.
