Mounting to Rossi WC Plate

So I have an opportunity to get a great deal on some Rossi WC GS skis. They had the ROssi bindings, but the sweet deal is because the bindings do not come with the ski. I have not mounted this type of ski before, and Im not sure what the deal with the plate it.

Do I have to mount a rossi binding on the rossi plate?

You would need to replace the plate to use a different binding.

You can almost certainly use Look bindings as well {same as Rossi}. If the ski is older than last year, when they went to the Axial binding on their race stock skis, the plate is likely pre-drilled for the FKS series of bindings. You can find them if you hunt around. You could also strip those plates, and perhaps use a less "binding specific" plate from some other skis, or another manufacturer. Maybe a VIST plate, the plate from a race stock Fischer of a few years ago, or a Nordica. Just a few ideas. I'd run it by a good shop for a few thoughts.

now where is the fun in asking a good shop. I worked at the best shop around... If I wanted to take my stuff there, I would not need this board

I ll look for some rossi bindings or look to take the plate of my Fischers.

OK... next question, anyone got any FKS series bindings?

OK.....so now that we now that you're the shop,.....FK's and the P series Looks are in hot demand. Very popular binding as they are no longer made, with the freeskiers. All metal, light, etc. You probably know that. They sell pretty frequently on TGR, and on this forum. That's the downside. A good pair of FK155's will bring $130-150, an pair of FK185's will net $175-200. NIB is more.

I know where you can get some NIB P18's but they'll run at least $250 with shipping.

I'd look around for an older pair of Fischer GS or SL skis, and strip the plates and the bindings. As you probably know, before the deal to brand Tyrolia's as Fischer for their product, a lot were mounted with Salomon's. You might find a delam pair of SL's, etc., and be able to pull this off for closer to $100. Just my $.02.

Post a WTB in the Gear Swap forum. Might be a start.

Tell me about it. Rossi hit the nail on the head. I got the WC GS skis for $25 from a guy because he boutght hem for the bindings. He paid $70 for the skis and striped the bindings. I figured I would just put a different plate and bindings on, but I like the flex pattern withthe metal plate ROssi makes. I was hoping to either make some sort of franken binding, or god forbid find the bindings somewhere else... no such luck. I guess even if I buy a new pair, I still get a good set up for about $100 right?

Anyone- cheap FKS 155's?

The 12 din FKS will work as well. They're the only (relatively) cheap FKS bindings floating around.

How about any LOOK bindings that would fit the holes... PX18?

I think that the P "X" series Look is the same binding as the Rossi Axial series, which is what Rossi rolled out last year on their race skis to replace the FK's. I'm not sure if they have the same mounting pattern as the FK's and the twin P series Looks. Better check on that, or maybe somebody here will confirm. We just sold a bunch of last year's Rossi's, so I can't check. If Rossi was "nice" or smart, they might have the same footprint....just don't know.

Look Pivot = Rossi Axial 1

Look P18/15 = Rossi FKS

Look/Dynastar PX = Rossi Axial 2

Look/Dynastar PX Racing = Rossi MFX

All four sets of bindings have different hole patterns and are not compatible with all plates. If you have a P18/FKS plate/ski you can not use PX or MFX bindings.

Look/Dynastar PX
Look/Dynastar PX Racing

Same pattern. I have mounted both on the Team Course WC ski.

No they are different. The plate on the ski will take both bindings, but they do have a different heel pattern in the heel. PX R screws spacing is closer front to back.
