HS for your boundless enthusiasum and love of the sport I hope you are making turns this weekend. I can remember in distant years past the Beast of the East would be open a couple of weeks before Halloween. I get a kick out of the HKD snowgun reference . Even if we are vertically challenged here in SW Pa. we are the home of maybe the most efficient snow making gun in the world; the HKD ( Herman K Dupre) from Seven Springs Pa. system.

Got a call this PM regarding a meeting in Nov. out in California, I have to now start looking at the Mammoth weather forecasts.

2 trails. I'm staying home
Meh, 2 trails is still better than none! If I didn't have a huuuuuuuge halloween party hangover scheduled for Sunday, I'd love to score first chair of the season...

I don't care about bragging rights I want good skiing. 2 trails and 700 skiers not fun, I've been there.

I use this site most of the time to check on conditions. It's easier then the mt's site.

All feel free to stay home.....

I thought you were done K HS?!?
HS, I thought you were done with K-ton and yet you keep talking about it. Let me guess, after all that bashing and advising, you bought a season pass

Killington got the message and I give them credit for doing the right thing. I will ski a few days this season, but I'm not sure about tomorrow. Look for the rusty edge trails in the snow if you go.

I was all set to go, till I heard the part about the $65 lift ticket. That's a real turn off to me. 65 bucks for what amounts to three trails and two lifts. That's more than a lot of places charge mid-season. And I think the previous estimate of 700 skiers will be on the low side. That's a lot to pay for early season skiing that is quickly going to turn into hand to hand combat. I was so turned off by the antics of the new management last year, that I didn't ski there once. I may still go, but that's pretty hard to swallow. Maybe their plan is to charge so much for a lift ticket, that a lot of people will stay home and keep the crowds down. It may work in my case.

But Wait...you can get 15 bucks off the 65 lift ticket IF you show a season pass at another ski area that currently has lifts running....quite the promo!!

Anywhere else other than Sunday River open in NE??
Areas: K-1: Open
Snowshed: Closed
Ramshead: Closed
Bear Mountain: Closed
Skyeship: Closed
Rates: Adult: $65.00
Young Adult/Senior: $52.00
Junior/Senior Plus: $46.00

Just copied that from the the web site today. They say 9 trails open.

$65.00 is a lot, hey maybe all the Wall St guy's will spend some of there bail out money there...

Yeh, that's quite a promo. Sunday River is getting $25 bucks for a lift ticket, with top to bottom skiing today. So let's see, anyone with a season pass at Sunday River can go there and ski for free, or they can go to Killington with comperable terrain open, and get $15 off the $65 price of the lift ticket at Killington and pay fifty bucks to ski there. I bet a lot of people are going to jump at that deal...

It was fun. Def worth going up for. Got icy late but there was some good bumps and things to pop off. No night life Saturday but probably due to Friday nights boozing.
I'd take a wild guess and say of the Killington skiers this weekend 90+ percent were pass holders. $65 for a ticket to ski very limited early early season conditions is a pricey in my book.
Yup that would be about right. They had 2 lifts decent amount of terrain for day one. Fun times. No employees on the hill either
