Ski 5 Mountains for $20!

I stopped by Ski Market today ( yes, ski market ) to pick up a couple things and I saw a flier for the new Warren Miller movie, Children of Winter. It is coming to Boston in a couple of weeks, and according to the flyer everyone attending the movie will receive vouchers for lift tickets at the following resorts:

Stratton: valid 12/1/08 thru 12/19/08 or 3/23/09 thru 4/12/09 and Wednesdays 1/7/09 thru 3/11/09.

Smugglers' Notch: valid until 12/21/08 and good for 1/2 off after that.

Sunday River: valid until 12/15/08 excluding Saturdays

Sugarloaf: same deal as Sunday River

Waterville Valley: valid thru 12/19/08 and good for 1/2 off after that.

For the price of a $20 movie ticket that I was probably going to buy anyways, this is a hell of a deal! I can see myself using at least three of these free tickets early or late season, maybe all of them!

Good find.

If I lived near Boston I'd be all over that.

Sounds too good to be true

Are they actual lift pass vouchers? In my neck of the woods, it usually turns out that what you get is a "buy one get one free" voucher, which can only be used once - so free really means 1/2 price (if you have someone to share with) and the ticket must be purchased at the full retail window. Blackout dates always seem to cover most of prime time , and off peak tickets are generally discounted anyway.

Read the fine print

All I have is a small copy of the flyer, but according to all the fine print everything actually seems legit. Here's an example:

FREE LIFT TICKET TO STRATTON MOUNTAIN RESORT
Everyone attending CHILDREN OF WINTER will receive a voucher to Stratton Mountain Resort good for ONE OF THE FOLLOWING. (1) FREE lift ticket valid from 12.1.08 through 12.19.08 (excluding 11.27.08 through 11.28.08). Free lift ticket also valid 3.23.09 through 4.12.09. (2) FREE Wednesday lift ticket valid 1.7.09 through 3.11.09 (excluding 2.4.09, 2.18.09). Not valid with any other discounted offer. No cash value. Must present valid ID and original copy of computer generated coupon at Stratton lift ticket window to redeem. Reproduced copies or any other form of communication other than the ORIGINAL computer generated cupon will not be accepted. Illegal to resell.
The others all read about the same, with the dates noted above. This is actually the longest one. What do you think? Sounds like the real deal to me...

waren miller ticket freebies are the real deal, the only knock is the timing of the deals being very early season (for the east that is)

I've used them quite often over th years.

most often they are geographically specfic, for instance I'm in WMass, and Jiminy is a perennial freebie but probably not sugarloaf which is A long WAY AWAY. A firnd in Newburg NY (about 75 miles away)usually gets different areas

You're right - sounds legit - enjoy!

Maybe the the thirst for dollars at W/B and Intrawest is such that comparable deals are not offered to Warren Miller productions. Or maybe its some sinister anti-Canuck discrimination plot....sigh

They're legit.
Every year that I've seen a Warren Miller movie I've used the Stratton one.
In the past they gave you a ticket with a code on it at the movie. You just went to their website to print out a coupon that you presented at the ticket booth.
It took all of five minutes to do it online.

JPH- Want to organize a GTG for the movie? I'd take the trip to Beantown- I'd like to meet ya and it would be a great way to snag some discount tix and hoist a few beers with some other bears- which I've never done ()... So if you want, PM me and let me know when you plan on going and I'll cruise out there- Maybe get a bunch of us together and get the stoke train rolling!

Let a brotha know!

You folks should start a swap thread.

If they give away tickets on a geographic formula, then what's wrong with swapping.

Tickets, change tickets ... not underwear.

Just start a thread on this ....

Prollally, lots of sows & boars will be seeing the movie.

I bought 2 tickets for this movie in Tempe AZ. ($22 each)

The free passes are only good Jan 6-31, at our local mountain (Snowbowl in Flagstaff) and then only on Tues, Wed. and Thurs.
Lot of caveats, but that's OK, the weekdays there are almost deserted.

You have to go on the WME website and print out a voucher that you'll bring to the ticket window. You need a code and then have to give your name and a way they can identify you... I think I uesd the last four of my CC. There might have been other options like license number or DOB

Wow, that's an amazing deal. I'm probably going to the Montreal showing of the film, and it says that we'll recieve a lift ticket for Mt Sutton in the Eastern Townships. It's a great place, don't get me wrong but just not the same as getting lift tickets for 5 areas. Enjoy!
